LA FEMME EN FLEUR · PHUPHALA — a collection in which one of Georgian cultural memory’s most singular female figures is transformed into a universal couture archetype.
Phuphala and La Femme en Fleur are not two different women. They are two states of the same woman. Phuphala is the woman observed from the margins because she is too colourful, too theatrical, too free, too visibly herself. La Femme en Fleur is that same woman at the moment she understands that what the world called “too much” was precisely her power. She no longer attempts to belong. She blooms.
Within Georgian cultural memory, Phuphala is an eccentric, impoverished aristocratic woman: faded silk, antique lace, emphatic make-up and an inner universe constructed against the greyness surrounding her. The world around her is monochrome. Phuphala is not. Her theatricality is not frivolity. It is survival. Beauty ceases to be decoration. Clothing ceases to be merely clothing. Adornment becomes part of a psychological architecture through which she protects imagination, dignity and selfhood.
Yet KHARCHI does not leave Phuphala where cultural memory found her. In Paris, she is reborn as LA FEMME EN FLEUR — the woman in bloom. A woman who no longer requires permission to be visible. A woman who refuses to understand age as a process of disappearance. A woman whose beauty lies not in preserving youth, but in becoming more completely herself.
For KHARCHI, a collection does not begin with silhouette. It begins with the birth of the textile. Hand-painted textiles, experimental dyeing, vintage fragments, antique lace, reclaimed materials and residual fabrics are reconstructed into a material vocabulary in which imperfection becomes authorship. No two surfaces can be absolutely identical. Therefore, no two KHARCHI garments can ever be entirely identical.
This is KHARCHI’s Slow Couture: luxury defined not by volume, but by singularity.
KHARCHI does not reproduce Georgian heritage literally. It transforms Georgian memory, female psychology, artisanal textile intervention and sculptural volume into a contemporary couture language.
PHUPHALA is the memory.
LA FEMME EN FLEUR is the transformation.
KHARCHI is the language that connects them.
They called her Phuphala. KHARCHI gives her back the right to bloom.
